"லலிதா தொடர்/Lalitha Series"

From 2023 to 2024, I worked on a Tamil Children's book series "லலிதா தொடர்" (Lalitha Series) with the author Vidhya Nathan, supported by the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism and published by Crimson Earth.
I illustrated all 3 of the books in the series, from the sketches to the final coloured pages. I also created animated video trailers, merchandise (bookmarks, sticker sheet and B&W colouring pages) and a book launch poster.

(Content warning: heavy gore and violence, profanities)For 6 months from 2023 to 2024, I worked as a visual development and concept artist on the animated adult horror/comedy TV series "Zombie Safari", available on Mediacorp drama's Youtube and meWatch.
I created various 2D prop assets, 2D-painted backgrounds and concept art. I also rendered final 3D background shots, matte painted background elements and animated a few of the character animation breakdowns.

For 6 months in 2022, I worked as a 2D background artist on the animated preschool TV series "iYO", available on Mediacorp okto's Youtube and meWatch.
I created various colour scripts, layouts and backgrounds. I also designed locations such as most of the school, the ice cream shop and others.

"Reconnection"

A 4 -minute 3D sci-fi short film that involved a total of me and 11 other members over the span of 6 months, for my school's Final Year Project. I worked on the project with 5 groupmates for only the first 3 months. I was responsible for the screenwriting, storyboarding/animatic and some concept art. I also modelled the main character’s helmet and backpack, and textured some props and the dark figure character.Reconnection follows a lone astronaut who arrives at the doorstep of a mysterious facility that reminds him of his old school. Things start to go awry and he has to battle his past to escape this illusionary hell.This short film has gained film selections in the US, Taiwan, Russia and the UK.

Hi there!

I’m Rebekah Chew, a background artist and illustrator from Singapore with a particular love for fantasy stories. I'm always eager to learn the 'how' and 'why' of things, from learning music instruments to visiting science and history museums.I also love my cat, comics and making art of my favourite shows/games!

I've work experience in TV animation and illustrations for cards and children's books, and graduated with a Diploma with Merit in Animation at Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Design & Media.
